Speed is killing more AI startups than competition ever will. Everyone is sprinting - faster demos, faster features, faster funding - but speed without structure is just expensive guessing. The real competitive edge in the generative era is not velocity. It is reproducibility.
James Everingham built the developer infrastructure at Meta, co-founded a company that was Google Ventures' very first investment, and is now building Guild AI - an enterprise control plane for AI agents. In this conversation, he unpacks what enterprise agent deployment actually requires, why the open source security model is underrated, and why the most dangerous thing about the current AI moment is not what agents can do, but how fast we're adopting them without understanding them.
The Browser Wars Pattern, Repeating
James was at Netscape during the browser wars. His takeaway from losing to Microsoft: the winner wasn't determined by who built the better browser. It was a distribution war.
