Twinnin
Consent, licensing, and provenance platform for human likeness — verify identity, set granular terms for how your face can be used in AI, and get paid when it is.
What it is
Twinnin, operated by AI KAT Limited, is a UK platform where a person verifies themselves as human via government ID and a biometric liveness check, then either licenses their likeness for AI use under granular, revocable terms or formally registers a refusal through its Defend product. Every consent decision is hashed into a timestamped, auditable provenance record, and payment is routed automatically when a brand or lab licenses a face. Founded 2025 in London by Katrien Grobler, Lan Prijatelj, and William Håkon Berg, after Grobler's own AI video ad agency accidentally used an unconsented likeness and had to scramble to license it after the fact. Closed a $3M seed round at a $25M post-money valuation backed by Google, NVIDIA, and SFC Capital, with 2,000 signed-up twins at close.
Who it's for
Anyone whose face has commercial or public value, agents and talent managers who need a payment rail that doesn't cut into their clients' share, and brands or AI labs that need a licensed, indemnified supply of human likeness instead of an unconsented one.
Why it's better
- •Four-layer registry (identity, consent, licence, provenance) makes every use traceable back to a specific, verified human decision rather than a blanket terms-of-service grant.
- •75% of every licence fee goes to the talent, full stop — when an agent is involved, the agent's 15% comes out of Twinnin's share, not the talent's.
- •Defend product treats refusal as a first-class product, not an afterthought, giving people who want nothing to do with AI a timestamped record that holds up when a deepfake surfaces.
- •Timed to a closing regulatory window: the EU AI Act's obligations are phasing in, Denmark is rewriting copyright to cover likeness, and the NO FAKES Act cleared Senate Judiciary unanimously in June 2026.
- •Founder's own accidental-infringement story is the product's origin, not a case study bolted on afterward.
