Data, BI, and AI consultancy that grounds Claude and ChatGPT in your company's own data so off-the-shelf models stop guessing.

What it is

P3 Adaptive is a data, business intelligence, and AI consultancy founded in 2013 by Rob Collie, a founding engineer on Microsoft Power BI. The firm's original business built dashboards and BI systems on Power BI and Power Pivot for mid-market companies. When large language models arrived, Rob recognized his own consultancy as exactly the kind of code-and-formula-heavy business AI eats first, and rebuilt the practice around grounding: connecting models like Claude and ChatGPT to a company's actual data, workflows, and brand voice through tools like MCP so the output stops being generic. Rob's fourth book, Fair Game: Customizing AI to Your Business Is Easier Than You Think, distills the firm's grounding practice for founders outside the Fortune 500 briefing circuit, covering handbooks (system prompts in plain language), backgrounders (retrievable company context), and a hard rule against letting an LLM generate a number.

Who it's for

Mid-market and founder-led businesses that already pay for ChatGPT or Claude but get mediocre output on real, repeated work, and want their AI grounded in company-specific data and instructions instead of re-explaining context every session.

Why it's better

  • Founder built Power BI at Microsoft, so the grounding practice is rooted in two decades of BI discipline, not a marketing pivot.
  • Handbook and backgrounder framework gives non-technical teams a plain-language way to build system prompts and retrievable context.
  • Targets the mid-market and below, the exact segment the hyperscalers' consulting arms aren't briefing.
  • Fair Game book turns the consultancy's playbook into a self-serve on-ramp, no engagement required to start.
