Master LinkedIn Visibility: Why Your Profile Matters More Than Posts
Some of you are about to realize you've wasted massive amounts of time.
Like I did.
You've been posting, commenting, and putting in the work, but you're not seeing the traction you expected. Why?
It's because your profile isn't dialed in.
Don't use LinkedIn again until you follow these 10 steps.
1. Make Your Profile Public
- Go to Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Edit Your Public Profile.
- Toggle your profile to Public so it's discoverable by anyone on LinkedIn and search engines.
- Ensure that your headline, photo, and summary are visible to all users, not just your connections.
2. Enable Creator Mode
- Activate Creator Mode to highlight your content and gain followers:
- Go to Me > View Profile and scroll down to the Resources section.
- Turn on Creator Mode and choose hashtags related to your industry or expertise.
3. Customize Contact Settings
- Go to Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Who Can See Your Contact Info.
- Allow visibility for your email and links to your connections or everyone.
- Add your email, phone number (optional), and relevant links to your personal website or portfolio.
4. Enable Notifications
- In Settings & Privacy > Communications > Notifications, ensure:
- You receive updates about connections' posts to engage quickly.
- You're notified about mentions and tags to join relevant conversations.
5. Manage Audience for Posts
- When posting content, select the audience carefully:
- Default to Anyone (Public) to maximize visibility.
6. Open Profile for Networking
- Enable the Open Profile option under Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Profile Viewing Options.
- This lets anyone message you without needing InMail or a connection, increasing opportunities for outreach.
7. Adjust Profile Viewing Options
- Set your Profile Viewing Options to Public so others can see when you view their profile and possibly connect with you.
8. Showcase Skills & Recommendations
- Go to Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Visibility of Your LinkedIn Activity > Skills & Endorsements.
- Ensure Display Skills is turned on and request endorsements from your connections to boost credibility.
9. Turn On "Notify Network"
- Go to your profile settings and toggle on Share Profile Updates with Network.
- This ensures that updates are shared with your connections.
10. Use LinkedIn Analytics
- Review Post Analytics and Profile Analytics regularly to understand what content resonates with your audience and refine your strategy.
